Optometry Giving Sight is Replay Learning's International Charity of Choice
Replay Learning is proud to be a National Supporter of Optometry Giving Sight.
We'd like you to help us support the great work that optometry giving sight is doing , developing optometric services in developing countries. We are asking all our customers to donate £1 every time they place an order with us. For each pound donated Replay Learning will match it with another pound.
Current estimates show that 250 million people worldwide are functionally blind or visually impaired simply because they have no access to an eye examination and a pair of glasses. Working with an alliance of optometrists and organizations that coordinate vision care projects around the world, Optometry Giving Sight funds the development of sustainable infrastructure via eye clinics, routine eye examinations, distribution of spectacles, training programmes and clinical equipment.
Peter Charlesworth, Director of Replay Learning, commented "We are very happy to lend our support to Optometry Giving Sight. It seems highly appropriate that as a CET provider we should back a charity which organises training and education for providers of eye care services in the developing world. It is particularly pertinent for us because a number of subscribers to our Virtual Lectures distance learning programme live in developing countries".
Optometry Giving Sight is unique in that it is the only global fund raising initiative specifically targeting the prevention of blindness due to refractive error. It aims to bring together all people who are familiar with the value of eye examinations and the correction of sight defects and who have the knowledge and determination to deliver a solution.
"Thanks to the tremendous support of companies like Replay Learning, Optometry Giving Sight ensures that 85% of donations from optometrists and their patients directly help those in desperate need of eye care", said Professor Brien Holden, CEO of Optometry Giving Sight. "Over the last year more than US$100,000 has been allocated to our priority projects in East Africa and Sri Lanka."
