Why has NES commissioned this course?
The General Ophthalmic Services (Scotland) regulations schedule 5 specify what data should be recorded during an eye examination. It is important that optometrists working within the GOS contract understand the requirements placed on them by these regulations and that they are able to record the necessary information in primary and secondary eye examinations. Good records that accurately reflect the findings of an eye examination are important for continuous patient care as well as providing important defence for optometrists in cases of complaints.
