Why has NES commissioned this course?
The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate first-aid equipment, facilities and people so that employees can be given immediate help if they are injured or taken ill at work. Under the Regulations, there is no legal duty to provide first aid for customers, visitors and patients but the HSE strongly recommends that you include them your first aid provision. Providing first aid facilities is also an important part of patient care within primary health care services Emergency First Aid at Work certification is valid for 3 years and enables a first-aider to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill. It is ideal for low-risk environments such as offices, shops such and opticians' practices.
