Let It Snow
With the recent winter weather, seeming to mirror the bleak economic outlook, have you stopped to think about how well your business is weathering the financial winter of recession? If you are still doing well then the chances are that you are offering something different from your competitors. We know from previous recessions that the middle of the market is not the best place to be. You need to be different. Some businesses differentiate on price, others on their level of service. The continued success of two very different approaches to food retailing offered by Lidl and Waitrose are cases in point. But how can Opticians differentiate themselves from their competitors? One answer is to offer services not offered by your competitors. This month's Virtual Lecture on Orthokeratology by Eef Van Der Worp explains the basics of fitting overnight orthokeratology lenses to correct myopia. It might just be the extra service you need to help you compete.

Happy New Year
Well, we're all another year older and another year wiser but if you still need some help feeling wiser, you could try one of January's Virtual Lectures. For Optometrists Chris Steele presents an update on Diabetic Retinopathy . Diabetic Retinopathy is still the UK's most common cause of blindness in the working population and the single most important cause of preventable blindness. The lecture will help you update your diagnostic skills and learn about the latest treatments.
For Dispensing Opticians Helen Caroll presents a hands on guide to Dispensing For The Infant And Young Child. Helen uses her considerable experience and an effortless confidence to explain - simply - how to dispense children under seven. Facial mearurements and frame modifications have never been so easy.
Happy New Year to you all.
